Questions & answers about the Deutschlandticket
General questions
- The Deutschlandticket is a monthly subscription. The subscription can always be cancelled at the beginning of the month. It is only valid on local public transport, not on long-distance Deutsche Bahn services (ICE, IC, EC), FlixTrain, long-distance buses (e.g. FlixBus) or on means of transport that are mainly used for tourist or historical purposes.
- The Deutschlandticket is only valid for the holder and in combination with a photo ID. It is not transferable to other persons.
- You can cancel your Deutschlandticket by the 10th of the month to the end of the calendar month.
Tickets on a cell phone can only be canceled in the respective app.
Tickets on chip cards issued by Kasseler Verkehrsgesellschaft (KVG) can be canceled by post (P.O. Box 10 2002, 34020 Kassel), by e-mail or in person at the customer center. Please state your contract number.
Please note that the Deutschland-Ticket can only be canceled by the respective contractual partner. Cancellations sent to other companies cannot be processed.
- Yes, depending on the AST line (AnrufSammelTaxi) you may have to pay an AST surcharge of 1 euro. This still applies if you have the Deutschlandticket.
Ticket purchase
- The Deutschlandticket can be ordered via our NVV app, online at the NVV-Abocenter of the KVG or in person at NVV customer centres.
Validity & conditions of use
- Under the "Kundengarantie" (customer guarantee), refunds are also granted for the Deutschlandticket in the case of delays and cancellations (1 euro per journey). This only applies if the start and destination of the delay are in the NVV area. The amount of the refund is limited to 25 euros per month.
Carry on regulations & transferability
- The Deutschlandticket does not allow you to take your bicycle with you free of charge throughout Germany. Bicycles can be taken along free of charge within the NVV area. Other regulations may apply outside the NVV. Please contact your local transport companies and associations for more information.
Subscription
- If you want to switch from a mobile ticket to a chip card, the existing travelcard must be cancelled in the relevant app. You can then take out a new subscription and choose to issue the ticket as a chip card. Switching from a chip card to a mobile ticket works in exactly the same way.
