The NVV
The abbreviation N·V·V stands for Nordhessischer VerkehrsVerbund (North Hesse Transport Association).
This is a transport company operating buses and trains.
We transport people in the North Hesse region.

More than half of Regionalmanagement Nordhessen GmbH is owned by the transport association and the development company.
This is an association of various companies in North Hesse.
The companies in the association are from the following sectors, among others:

- Health
- Energy.
Companies with shares in this association are called shareholders.
Other shareholders include:
- The Chamber of Industry and Commerce
- The Kassel Chamber of Crafts
- The Pro Nordhessen e. V. association

Tasks of the transport association
The Nordhessischer VerkehrsVerbund (NVV) has various responsibilities.
In the following text, we will always refer to it as NVV.
Here, we explain these responsibilities in individual sections:
With a ticket, you can use buses, trains and trams in the NVV area.
Tickets for buses, trains and trams always cost the same in the NVV area.
The NVV area includes more than 100 towns and municipalities in northern Hesse.
The NVV area has different zones.
The KasselPlus area includes the city of Kassel and 14 surrounding municipalities.
In the NVV area, there are tickets for the entire journey.
Day tickets and season tickets from price level 8 are valid for the entire network area.
This allows you to travel throughout North Hesse.
Tickets can be purchased at NVV customer centres and information points.
Personal advice and information material are also available there.
There are ticket machines at most stations.
You can buy tickets quickly and easily from these machines.
The NVV app has also been available since 2012.
This is a programme for mobile phones.
It allows you to buy and show tickets on your mobile phone.
Accurate information about buses and trains is important:
When you are on the move.
This includes, for example, information about:
- Routes
- Departure times
- Journey duration
- Prices
- Sometimes there are sudden changes.
Passengers can see this new information immediately on the screens
at stations or stops.
With the NVV app, you also know immediately:

Every station and every stop is important for the NVV.

The stations and stops at all 99 stations are in good condition.

All stations and stops are cleaned regularly.
Any damage is repaired quickly.
Some stations have been renovated and are now barrier-free.
We are continuing to invest in modern stations and stops.
Most routes are served by:
- Electric railcars
- Double-decker carriages
- Light diesel railcars.
- All trains are comfortable.
They are easy to board.
The interior is air-conditioned.
The seats are soft and have an attractive pattern.
There are disabled-friendly toilets.
There are a total of 24 rail lines for travel within the city and the region.
These lines include:
- Tram
- RegioTram
- Regional train
- Regional express.
- The RegioTram connects various towns with Kassel city centre.

- Hofgeismar
- Wolfhagen
- Melsungen.
Various sections of the route have been renovated in recent years.
This will continue in the future.
The bus is the most important means of transport in North Hesse.
Our buses cover the longest distances every day.
From Monday to Friday, our buses travel around 74,000 kilometres.
We draw up the timetable in collaboration with the rural districts and the city of Kassel.
We also commission various bus companies to operate services in the NVV area.
These companies are subject to regular checks:
This ensures that our bus services are good and remain so.
Only low-floor buses are now in operation.
These are buses with a low entrance:

In addition, the stops are displayed and announced on the buses.
All buses in the NVV area look the same:

Bus connections are coordinated with train connections:

In regions with few bus connections, there is a shared taxi service.
This is a supplement to the bus service.
Especially in areas where not so many buses can run.
You have to book your journey by telephone.
One of the NVV's key tasks is to maintain the 5,600 bus stops in the NVV area.
All bus stops should be modern.
They all look the same.
They are like a trademark of the transport network in North Hesse.
