CallSharedTaxi (AST)
CallSharedTaxi (AST) are a useful addition to regular bus and rail services. With the AST, you are also mobile on routes and at times that are not in high demand. You just need to book your journeyin advance.
Booking a CallSharedTaxi (AST):

Searching for your connection, select the AST service and book it directly.
- In the NVV app
Search for your connection and book the AST service shown.
- By phone

Booking online
Here’s how it works:
- Enter your desired departure stop (A) and destination stop (B).
- Select the AST service.
- Click the blue Book button.
- If you are registering for the first time, sign up. (You will receive your login details by email.)
- Log in.
- Select the date of your journey.
- Enter the number of passengers travelling.
- Select the information regarding your existing or required NVV ticket and the AST surcharge.
- If applicable, select whether you are bringing a dog, larger items, etc.
- If applicable, enter a message for the AST operator.
- Book – done!
Good to know: In the Schwalm-Eder district and the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, online bookings are only possible during the telephone service hours of the AST booking centre (daily from 7am to 9pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 7am to midnight).
Booking by phone

In the city of Kassel, bookings can be made up to 15 minutes before departure. The booking centre is available 24/7.
In the surrounding districts, you should book your AST at least 30 minutes in advance. Booking are available:
Daily from 7am to 9pm
Fridays and Saturdays from 7am to midnight
Please provide the AST booking centre with the following information:
- Your name
- Date of the journey
- Your departure stop and desired departure time
- Your destination stop
- Number of passengers travelling
- Ticket and surcharge – Do you already have a ticket, or would you like to purchase one directly from the driver?
- If applicable additional luggage, large items or animals, if applicable – Would you like to bring a stroller, walker, wheelchair, dog, etc.? Do you require a child seat?
Good to know: Recurring bookings can be made by phone for a maximum period of 4 weeks.
NVV ticket and AST surcharge
The NVV fare applies to AST journeys. Selected NVV tickets can also be purchased directly on the AST. Children under the age of 7 who have not yet started school travel free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
In the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, an additional AST surcharge of 1 euro per person and journey must also be paid.
For frequent AST users, the following options are available:
- Weekly surcharge: 6 euros
- Monthly surcharge: 12 euros
- Annual surcharge: 120 euros
Please note:
- In principle, the following applies: Journeys are made on demand and according to a fixed timetable. In the timetable, AST journeys are marked with a telephone receiver symbol, in the electronic timetable information with the black and yellow AST symbol
. Taxis or hire cars labelled as ASTs take you from stop to stop. - As a rule, AST journeys are only possible between districts or neighbourhoods, not within a district or neighbourhood (with the exception of the city of Kassel). Please refer to the timetable for further information.
- If you are unable to start your booked journey, please cancel it by telephone or online in good time before the booking deadline.
- An AST only has a very limited number of seats. It is generally not possible to take groups or book for groups (with the exception of the city of Kassel). This also applies to bringing bicycles along.
Bringing
Wheelchairs and other mobility aids can generally be accommodated. However, when making your booking, please check in advance whether suitable vehicles are available and let us know what you will be bringing. Please note that longer advance booking periods of up to 24 hours before departure may apply.
The regulations for the safe transport of babies and children also apply to AST vehicles. Babies may only be transported in suitable infant car seats. These are not provided and must be brought along. For children up to 150 cm tall and up to 12 years of age, booster seats and, in some cases, child seats are available. Strollers can also be brought along. Please let us know your requirements in advance by phone or online.
When booking, you must specify if you wish to bring a dog, luggage, larger items, or similar.
In passenger cars, dogs can only be transported if they are no larger than a domestic cat and are kept in a transport box. The driver will decide on a case-by-case basis whether the dog can be transported.
An exception applies to assistance dogs accompanying a person with a severe disability. The prerequisite is that the person’s severely disabled person's ID card includes the code B.
In general: The safety and orderly operation of the service must not be compromised. Please note that longer advance booking periods may apply!
