Technical problems
How can I travel already if my ticket has not arrived yet?
Print out your order confirmation, which you have received by e-mail. With this and a valid photo ID, you can travel by bus & train in the meantime. If your ticket has not arrived within 14 days, please contact us by e-mail at nvvabo@kvg.de or visit one of the NVV-Customer centers.
I always have to log in to the NVV mobile app again. What can I do?
The ticket is stored in the cache (temporary memory) of your cell phone for up to three days. On some smartphone models, this cache is deleted if you close the NVV mobile app completely. If the app is then opened again, the registration process in the NVV Abocenter of the app must be performed again. We are aware of this problem and are already working on a solution.
In the meantime, please avoid closing the app completely to avoid clearing the cache. However, occasionally logging in again is normal for security reasons. In order to make the login process more comfortable for you, we have added put together a little guide on how to save your access data. (Guide is in german)
What do I do if I receive an EBE (Erhöhtes Beförderungsentgelt) despite having a valid Deutschlandticket?
Please object to the EBE immediately using the contact details provided. These are on the EBE receipt.

The old subscription price was debited from my account. What do I have to do?
Due to billing processes, it happens that the old amount was debited for existing subscriptions. The price for the month of May will be refunded proportionally and transferred back. If this has not happened by the end of May, please contact the NVV-ServiceTelefon or send an e-mail to nvvabo@kvg.de.
General questions
What is the Deutschlandticket and how much does it cost?
The federal and state governments have agreed on a ticket for local public transport (ÖPNV/SPNV) that is valid throughout Germany. This allows you to use all means of public transport throughout Germany. The Deutschlandticket will be available as a monthly cancelable subscription at an introductory price of 49 euros per month.
When will the new Deutschlandticket be available?
Since May 1, 2023 you can use the ticket.
What are the conditions of the Deutschlandticket?
The federal and state governments have decided that the Deutschlandticket will be offered as a monthly cancelable subscription. It is to be valid nationwide and will enable travel throughout Germany on all local trains, buses, streetcars and AST services. The Deutschlandticket will be valid exclusively on local public transport, but not on long-distance Deutsche Bahn services (ICE, IC, EC), FlixTrain, long-distance buses (e.g., FlixBus), or means of transport operated primarily for tourist or historical purposes. As a personal season ticket, it will not be transferable to other persons.
Is the Deutschlandticket transferable to other persons?
The Deutschlandticket is valid for one person only and only in conjunction with a photo ID. It is not transferable to other persons.
How can I cancel my Deutschlandticket subscription?
You can cancel the Deutschlandticket by the 10th of a month to the end of the calendar month.
Do I also have to pay an AST surcharge (1 Euro) with the Deutschlandticket?
Yes. Depending on the AST line (AnrufSammelTaxi), an AST surcharge of 1 euro must be paid. This also applies when using the Deutschlandticket.

Where will I receive the Deutschlandticket?
The Deutschlandticket can be ordered via our app NVV Mobil, online in the NVV Abocenter of the KVG or directly on site in the NVV customer centers.
Who can buy the Germany ticket?
Restrictions are currently not known. According to the current status, any person can buy and use the ticket.
Do I need a cell phone for the Germany ticket?
No, even those who do not use a smartphone will be able to order and use the Deutschlandticket. When ordering, you decide whether you want the Deutschlandticket as a mobile ticket in the NVV Mobil app or as a chip card.

Validity & Terms of Use
Where is the new ticket recognized?
It will be valid nationwide in 2nd class on local transport, i.e. on all buses, local trains, streetcars and AST services. It will not be recognized on long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn (ICE, IC, EC), FlixTrain, long-distance buses (FlixBus). Also excluded are means of transport that are operated predominantly for tourist or historical purposes.
Is the ticket valid in 1st class?
The Deutschlandticket does not include a nationwide use option for 1st class. In the NVV, 1st class can also be used in conjunction with a supplementary ticket of the NVV tariff. Outside the NVV, other regulations may apply. Please contact the local transport companies and associations for more information.
For which period is my Deutschlandticket valid?
The Deutschlandticket is offered as a monthly cancelable subscription. It is valid 24 hours a day without exceptions (24/7).
Is the Deutschlandticket refunded in case of delays?
Via the "Customer Guarantee", a refund is also granted for the Deutschlandticket in case of delays and cancellations (1 Euro per trip). This applies exclusively if the start and destination of the delay are in the NVV area! The amount of the refund is limited to 25 Euro per month.
Carry-over rules & portability
Can I take my bicycle with me free of charge with the Deutschlandticket?
The Deutschlandticket does not allow you to take bicycles with you free of charge throughout Germany. In the NVV area, bicycles can be taken along free of charge. Outside the NVV, other regulations may apply. Please contact the local transport companies and associations for more information.
Can I take my dog with me free of charge with the Deutschlandticket?
The Deutschlandticket does not allow dogs to be taken along free of charge throughout Germany. In the NVV area, dogs can be taken along free of charge. Outside the NVV, other regulations may apply. Please contact the local transport companies and associations for more information.
Can other people use my Deutschlandticket or can I take people with me?
No, the Deutschlandticket is personal and non-transferable. No other persons can be taken along. Exception: Nationwide, children under 6 years of age travel free of charge. In the NVV, children under the age of 7 who have not yet started school can also travel free of charge. The number of these children is not limited!
Do children travel free of charge?
Children under the age of 6 travel free of charge throughout Germany. In the NVV, children under the age of 7 who have not yet started school are also free of charge. To take older children or adults with them, they need a ticket according to the applicable tariff.
Subscribers
What do I have to do if I want to change to the Deutschlandticket?
NVV subscribers can decide whether they want to remain with their existing subscription or switch to the Deutschlandticket. If you wish to change, you must cancel your existing subscription at the NVV Abocenter of the KVG. Monthly installments already paid will be credited to you. There will be no financial disadvantages for you. Afterwards, you simply conclude the Deutschlandticket at the Abocenter.
What do I have to do if I want to keep my original NVV annual subscription?
For all those who would like to keep their original NVV annual subscription, nothing further is required. You can continue to use your NVV annual subscription under the same conditions as before. The NVV will thus remain your previous and future partner in all matters concerning local public transport. The information letter already sent to you by mail can be ignored.
What do I have to do as a JobTicket holder if I want to change to the Deutschlandticket?
If you are in possession of a JobTicket and would like to switch to the Deutschlandticket, please contact your employer or the person responsible for this in your company.
What do I have to do as a student or senior citizen ticket holder if I want to switch to the Deutschlandticket?
Holders of a senior citizen ticket or a privately purchased student ticket can switch to the Deutschlandticket without any financial disadvantages (such as refunds or similar). Simply cancel your current subscription at the NVV Abocenter of the KVG and purchase the Deutschlandticket online. In this case, deadlines such as minimum periods do not have to be observed. With the change, only the conditions valid for the Deutschlandticket apply. Change directly:
I use a semester ticket. Does this automatically become the Deutschlandticket?
No. The contract between the student council and the NVV remains valid. Further solutions for the Deutschlandticket for students are currently still being agreed. The option of purchasing an upgrade to the semester tickets should be available from the winter semester 2023/24 at the latest.
Students of the University of Kassel
Students of the University of Kassel have the opportunity to upgrade their semester ticket to the Deutschlandticket from June 1, 2023.
Conditions for the semester ticket upgrade to the Deutschlandticket:
- You can only purchase the semester ticket upgrade if you have a semester ticket from Kassel University for the summer semester 2023.
- The semester ticket upgrade to the Deutschlandticket for students is an NVV subscription; the contractual partner is Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft AG (KVG) as the sales service provider for NVV.
- It is valid until September 30, 2023. The exact validity period depends on when you apply, depending on which month you want to start. If you start on July 1 it is valid for 3 months, on August 1 it is valid for two months and if you start on September 1 it is only valid for
- The ticket is only valid in conjunction with your CampusCard with printed Semesterticket authorization and your photo ID. It is a paper ticket and cannot be offered digitally for the time being.
- You can already order the Germany ticket for June. Please note, however, that due to the short time available and the processing and shipping time, it may not reach you on June 1, but a few days later. Nevertheless, the entire monthly amount of 23.48 euros is due, since a day-by-day billing is technically not feasible with this special promotional offer. Nevertheless, AStA, the university and NVV want to offer this option.
- The total amount to be paid by you until September 2023 depends in this respect on your selected validity period. Depending on your chosen start date, the amount due will be collected from your account by KVG by direct debit for four, three, two or only one month.
- From October 2023, the Semesterticket update to the Deutschlandticket will continue as a monthly cancelable subscription for the difference between the Semesterticket fee and the price of the Deutschlandticket. If the subscription is to be terminated on September 30, it must be cancelled by September 10.
What does the upgrade cost for students of the University of Kassel?
The upgrade costs 23.48 euros/month.
As things stand, only SEPA direct debit is possible as a payment method. Payment options via credit card and PayPal are currently being prepared.
How do I get the upgrade for the semester ticket?
You can apply for it on the 1st of each month on the Website of the University Kassel. Here, an order form including SEPA procedure must be filled out in the first step.
The upgrade is then valid until the end of the current summer semester 2023 (30.09.2023). The exact validity period depends on when you submit your application. Depending on which month you want to start. If you start on July 1, it is valid for three months; if you start on August 1, it is valid for two months; and if you start on Sept 1, it is only valid for September.
Important note: If you take out the upgrade, it will be valid at least until the end of the summer semester 2023. From October 2023 onwards, it can then be cancelled on a monthly basis.
How do I get the corresponding ticket?
As a transitional measure, the Semesterticket Upgrade for eligible students will be sent to you by mail in paper form.

What will happen after the summer semester 2023?
We are working with all parties involved on a technical solution to be able to offer you an electronic travel authorization for the winter semester 2023/2024. You will receive information on this in good time.

Is my semester ticket still valid?
Yes, the semester ticket for the NVV area can still be used as usual. The upgrade is subject to a fee, voluntary and only valid in conjunction with the semester ticket and an official photo ID.
How can I switch from an already purchased Deutschlandticket to the Semesterticket Upgrade (without paying twice)?
You have to cancel the already purchased Deutschlanticket with your current provider in time for the desired end of the month and reorder the Semesterticket upgrade starting with the desired month.
Do the conditions of the semester ticket or the Deutschlandticket apply?
If you decide to upgrade, you will use the conditions of your semester ticket within the area of validity of the semester ticket. For journeys beyond this area of validity, the conditions of the Deutschlandticket apply.
How can I end my Semesterticket Upgrade?
The Semesterticket Upgrade cannot be cancelled monthly (for the current summer semester 2023)!
If the subscription is to be terminated on 30.9., it must be cancelled by 10.9. Otherwise, your Semesterticket Upgrade to the Deutschlandticket will continue as a monthly cancelable subscription for the difference between the Semesterticket fee and the Deutschlandticket price.
What happens to the subscription in case of exmatriculation ?
In the event of exmatriculation, the entitlement to purchase the subscription at the above conditions expires. You are welcome to proactively cancel the ticket at the end of the semester. Otherwise, the ticket will be cancelled automatically during the authorization check with the University of Kassel.
How is the billing or debiting of the fee(s) done?
Refer to Note "What happens after the 2023 summer semester?"
When will be debited and how ?
At present, we assume that the first debit will be made on 15.07. at the earliest, or possibly not until 15.08.
